The Role 


Porter Novelli is looking to hire a research assistant/AE to join our burgeoning and tightly knit research team.  The ideal candidate will have an enquiring mind, an eye for detail, and a love of translating data into actionable insights for our clients and account teams.  You will support our team in varied research projects, from interpreting data, to writing and programming surveys in Qualtrics and other survey platforms, to handling logistics to help coordinate and conduct qualitative research. This is an entry-level job for someone with at least 1-2 years of office experience post-college, with an excellent opportunity to grow in a fun and rewarding office environment.

  • We need you to be able to draw conclusions from data, as well as write understandably and clearly, so excellent writing samples are mandatory 
  • BA required 
  • One-two years of work experience post-college is required

What You Will Be Doing

  • This position will handle both qualitative and quantitative research.  The right candidate will know those terms (and how they’re different!) without a Google search. 
  • A working knowledge of quantitative research will likely include: 
  • Ability to read and interpret crosstabs and/or data tables 
  • Familiarity with SPSS, Qualtrics, and/or other tools for survey research 
  • Exposure to survey design 
  •  Secondary research skills 
  • Data presentation/solid power point skills 
  • A working knowledge of qualitative research will likely include:  
  • Familiarity with focus group and IDI research methodologies 
  • Interviewing skills  
  • Ability to help analyze, synthesize, and interpret qualitative conversations into actionable findings 
  • You’ll be responsible for many different tasks on a number of projects, many of which will have tight deadlines.  As such we’re looking for someone extremely organized and who likes (and is able) to shift tasks quickly. Our clients create multimillion dollar programs based on the results of our research, and so accuracy and attention to detail are essential components to this job (you really need to have this, we’re not kidding)
  • You must be interested in how data can shed light on human motivation, have a zest for answering tough questions about people’s attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors, and how communications can affect them.
